Fiction Express Monday : Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light Chapter 11.

There’s no voting over at Fiction Express this week as it’s the final chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Here are my thoughts about it, please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

At the end of chapter 10 we were faced with choosing between Thaddeus staying with Rémy or her making him go and save himself. I was really pleased to see him stay with her, I didn’t like the idea of him leaving her behind. The opening part of the chapter was certainly filled with plenty of tension, I realised I was holding my breath as I read at one point – always a sign of a gripping read for me! I did get really worried when it became clear that whilst both Rémy and Thaddeus had survived they each thought the other had perished, I was very glad that Desai and J intervened! The way Rémy and Thaddeus were both so willing to sacrifice themselves was really heart warming, I was so pleased with the way it all played out with neither of them ending up locked away for stealing the jewel. I loved the epilogue, it was so nice to see what had become of the characters and the open ending means the reader can imagine what happens next. I’m going to imagine Rémy and Thaddeus living a long and happy, if slightly complicated, life together.

I can’t believe that we’ve already reached the end of Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light. It’s been another brilliant book from Fiction Express, I’m looking forward to whatever comes next from them!

Fiction Express Monday : Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light Chapter 10.

Voting’s closed over at Fiction Express for this week so it’s time for me to share my thoughts on the latest chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

Wow, this week’s chapter was filled with action and tension, with all of the characters in real peril. I spent a lot of the chapter wishing I could read faster so that I could find out what was happening to each group following Abernathy’s decision to flood the mine and start his dastardly plan. I loved that Desai got another hero moment, using his powers to free himself and Thaddeus from the cell that they’d been left to die in. Thaddeus went one better however, both saving all of the slaves (I was getting really worried about the fact he hadn’t seen J and was so relieved when he finally appeared) and professing his love for Rémy and insistence on staying with her. I feel like I’m really willing the two of them to get through this whole ordeal and become the lovely couple they seem destined to be! I can’t wait to see what happens in the final chapter, I think it could be a long few days waiting for it!

Faced with the choice for chapter 10 I chose for Rémy to let Thaddeus cross the chasm to join her.

Fiction Express Monday : Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light Chapter 9.

Voting’s closed over at Fiction Express for this week so it’s time for me to share my thoughts on the latest chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

The chapter this week opened with Rémy deciding to go with Abernathy. I was so pleased when we discovered that Desai was still alive, I think he’s a really interesting character and I liked the way he reassured Thaddeus. We got a really interesting glimpse into Abernathy’s world in this chapter, I think it’s an amazing creation. I enjoyed reading the Professor’s story, I like the way that these characters are not straight forward – there are shades of grey to everyone. The tension really picked up in the last couple of pages, I can’t begin to imagine how this is all going to resolve in just two more chapters!

After last week’s slightly easier vote the options this week are once more fiendishly difficult. My choice would be for Rémy to leave her friends behind and go for the diamond in the hope of thwarting Abernathy’s plans.

Fiction Express Monday : Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light Chapter 8.

Voting’s closed over at Fiction Express for this week so it’s time for me to share my thoughts on the latest chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

I started reading this new chapter worried about what was going to happen to Rémy and who had burst into Desai’s place. I was really relieved to discover that Rémy’s injuries weren’t life threatening, but even though I’d voted for it to be Abernathy’s men I still wasn’t sure that this was a good thing for Rémy, Thaddeus and the others. It certainly didn’t seem to be a good thing for poor J, his treatment was absolutely horrible. I thought it was clever that Abernathy was also aware of Rémy’s curse and her parents’ story, it feels like all of these plot threads are going to twist together in a great finale. I love the continuing hints of romance between Rémy and Thaddeus, I’m a real sucker for a happy ending and I hope that by the end of the book they find a way to overcome their obvious differences.

This week’s vote options didn’t seem quite as hard as last week’s, I think this is a very good thing – I don’t think I could have coped with making another impossible decision. My choice this week would be for Rémy to go with Abernathy, because I’m hoping that The Professor has a secret plan.

Fiction Express Monday : Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light Chapter 7.

Okay so the title of this post isn’t strictly accurate this week seeing as it’s Tuesday rather than Monday. I suddenly realised just after 1 o’clock this morning that I’d completely forgotten to post this and as it was already Tuesday I figured I’d sort it out after I’d slept rather than doing it there and then. So here’s my slightly belated thoughts on the latest chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

I was really pleased with the reveal that it was The Professor who was standing in front of Rémy and even more happy to discover that he wasn’t a secret villain. This week saw the introduction of Desai, another interesting new character. I thought it was clever to have him know about the curse, I really enjoyed reading about it and discovering more about the world this book is set in. Finding out what the curse means for Rémy made me feel quite sad for her, I want her to break it even more now.

This week’s vote was, I think, the hardest one yet. I looked intently at my screen hoping that a third option would appear but it didn’t. In the end I voted for Abernathy’s men being behind the raid.

Voting’s closed over at Fiction Express for this week so it’s time for me to share my thoughts on the latest chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

I was quite nervous before I sat down to read this week’s chapter, I wondered who was going to be falling into the machine. I’d voted for everyone to fall – I couldn’t pick one character to single out, it seems though like the other readers were more decisive and we saw Thaddeus being the chosen one. I loved how calm and collected Rémy was when faced with so much pressure, I don’t think I’d have been able to keep my head in the same way. I really feel attached to these characters, and I feel like I’m going on the journey with them emotionally. I thought the moment when Thaddeus pressed his hands to Rémy’s through the glass was so touching, I really hope they manage to get back to one another soon. The ending took me completely by surprise, I get the feeling the plot’s about to take another major twist and I for one can’t wait!

For this week’s vote I chose The Professor to be the surprise person standing before Rémy.

Fiction Express Monday : Rémy Brunel and the Ocean Of Light Chapter 5.

Voting’s closed over at Fiction Express for this week so it’s time for me to share my thoughts on the latest chapter of Sharon Gosling’s Rémy Brunel and the Ocean of Light. Please be aware there are spoilers ahead for the chapter.

This week the chapter began with Thaddeus agreeing to listen to Rémy’s story, and taking her and J back to the Professor’s. I really liked the discussion between Thaddeus and Rémy, we really got a sense of the unease they’re both feeling and how suspicious they are of each other. I thought that the Professor’s mediation worked really well, he’s a character I’m liking more and more each week. We got a new plot line introduced this week, Abernathy is cooking up something dreadful in a set of mines under the city and children are going missing. I’m looking forward to seeing how this twists in with the jewel thievery.

This week I found the vote really hard – should I vote for just one character to fall into the machine? If so who should I pick? In the end I voted for them all to fall into the machine. I’m really looking forward to seeing the result of this one.
